What is Sea Louth?

Sea Louth Scenic Seafood Trail captures what’s best about County Louth’s 70km+ coastline, the stunning scenery and of course the finest local seafood.

Explore the roads less travelled, meet local characters, breathe the salty sea air, see where our proud seafood producers land their catch, eat fresh local dishes by the coast, admire the spectacular views and create memories that will last a lifetime…

Sea Louth

The Brief

The brief was to create a new brand identity and associated print items for a seafood trail in County Louth. The new brand needed to; appeal to national and international tourists, celebrate &showcase Louth as a ‘go-to’ destination for food tourism, connect the scenic locations with the seafood producers and restaurants, and work seamlessly across print, digital, merchandise and way finding signage. Ultimately our goal was to give tourists a reason to veer off the motorway and to come and discover this hidden gem on the east coast, to ‘come & sea louth!’.

The Strategy

The ‘sea louth’ name was a strategic name choice, to establish a firm connection with Louth’s 70km+ scenic and fruitful coast. The name was also carefully considered from a phonetical and practical point of view to assist international tourists.

Our chosen tagline “see eat admire” sets out three tangible reasons to follow the trail; to see where the boats land their catch and where local producers are producing their artisan foods, to eat our world famous seafood in the finest dining establishments across Louth, and to admire the spectacular sea views and fresh sea air along the way.

Brand

Our unique brand marque simply uses fishtails as directional arrows, pointing eastwards towards the coastline; leading tourists along the newly coined ‘scenic seafood trail’. The logo works as an excellent way finding devices on council road signage, but can also be used illustratively as swarms of fish, as mountains, waves, and more.

Supporting Materials

Key promotional items designed include a food producers brochure, a passport with 14 illustrated scenic location stamps to collect, a trail map, tees, bunting and more.
